“You can’t have sustainability without cool roofing,” said Kurt Shickman, Executive Director of Global Cool Cities Alliance at the 2014 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.

Shickman was a part of the GAF Spotlight Series and spoke about “Cooling the World’s Cities with Reflective Urban Surfaces”.  He says cities are much hotter than the surrounding rural areas and one reason is because many of the building material choices are dark and impermeable surfaces.  He says that affects many areas of sustainability. Watch the video above to learn more about how to cool the world’s cities.

The entire GAF speaker series is now available for viewing on YouTube.

“It was a really an honor to have speakers of such caliber joining us at Greenbuild®. I think it’s a testament to all we’ve done to support the transparency movement and the development of LEED® version 4,” said Marty Grohman, Director of Sustainability at GAF. “It was a great show.”
