Today’s Homeowner Demands Multiple Choices

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

There have been two schools of thought when it comes to buying products: some say, “tell me the best choice and that is what I’ll buy,” while others want to do the research and make their own decision. These digitally savvy consumers want to investigate all the options and costs and make an educated decision as to which product will best suit their needs. But that doesn’t mean a contractor should go into the home without offering other options the homeowner either may not be aware of or just hadn’t found in their search.

The roofing industry began with three-tab asphalt shingles, which are the most cost effective and fine option for more modest properties. Over time, homeowners started to demand shingles with different features and looks. Because of that, architectural shingles became a more popular option. We are talking about shingles, generally, not GAF shingles. We have back-up for the statement that Timberline® Shingles can increase the value of a home by 5% compared to 3-tab shingles (based on the NAR study). For those homeowners who want to go a step further, designer shingles offer an even more beautiful and stylish look for a roof. All of these options have their place in the market and fit various tastes, styles, and budgets, but it’s important that contractors share the options that are available.

Providing options could help contractors close more sales. Contractors need to be well-versed in all the options in order to present clear choices to a homeowner. Knowing this, GAF wanted to help. That’s why we came up with the new EasyPro Selling System, which combines multiple shingle colors into one easy-to-use portfolio. GAF put this selling tool together to help contractors show the shingle samples and colors side by side and to reduce the amount of heavy boards they needed to carry to a job. This new product sample combines Timberline HD® Shingles and Timberline Ultra HD® Shingles in the top three national colors: Weathered Wood, Charcoal, and Barkwood. Plus, it has all the information needed to discuss the complete GAF Lifetime Roofing System*—all in one easy-to-hold sample. Offering multiple options just got easier.

Whether you utilize the EasyPro Selling System or not, make sure you are ready to show off all you have to offer in order to help a homeowner make the right decision for their needs—and to differentiate yourself from the competition. More choices can lead to more sales for your business. To order your own EasyPro Selling System, contact your local GAF representative.

*The word “Lifetime” refers to the length of coverage provided by the GAF Shingle & Accessory Ltd. Warranty (refer to the actual warranty for complete coverage and restrictions), and means as long as the original individual owner(s) of a single-family detached residence [or the second owner(s) in certain circumstances] owns the property where the shingles and accessories are installed. For owners/structures not meeting the above criteria, Lifetime coverage is not applicable. Lifetime Ltd. Warranty on accessories requires the use of at least three qualifying GAF accessories and the use of Lifetime Shingles.

The EasyPro Selling system is GAF’s newest sample tool: an easy to carry, professional portfolio that showcases three popular shingle colors in one – combined with house and shingle swatch images to give the homeowner a better perspective on color. It’s a comprehensive tool that combines everything you need to sell the GAF system into one.
