Get Educated–Changes to the 2016 CARE Classes

GAF’s Center for the Advancement of Roofing Excellence (CARE) has trained nearly 200,000 roofing professionals, but they are not stopping there! The team has made improvements to the curriculum to provide even more great education in the coming year.

Here are some of the changes you will see in 2016 for CARE’s 3-day TPO training that will take place at our plants in Statesboro, Georgia; Cedar City, Utah; and Gainesville, Texas:

  • Design and installation of a tapered system. Students will learn how and why to install tapered insulation, the different tapered slopes, and how to design a tapered system.  After classroom instruction, the students will then measure, layout, and install a tapered roofing system on a roof deck.
  • Installation of a complete roof system—RhinoBond® or mechanically attached. Students will learn in a classroom setting the three major roofing assemblies. They will then install a complete roof system either mechanically attached or RhinoBond® with a dry-in robotic heat welder and then install detail work to simulate a real roof system.
  • Best practices in estimating. Students will learn best practices in Commercial Estimating, whether it’s a new construction or reroof application. Participants will learn tricks as well as things to watch out for when estimating.
  • Details on the roof system. An explanation of the types of systems and materials that are needed with a TPO install.

CARE will also continue two new residential classes from this year: Best Practices in Residential Estimating and Setting Expectations with the Home Owner.

Check out the CARE section of the gaf.com website to register for the hands-on training, in person classes, “live cam” events, and online webinars for the New Year.  The first one to bring in the New Year is Thursday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. EST.  Register in advance and hear CARE trainers Alan Lopez and Jevon Johnson share new mobile technology, new products, and new ways to go to market in the upcoming 2016 roofing season.
